Individual coaching provides an invaluable opportunity for busy professionals, managers or executives to reflect on the issues they face, and to generate solutions with the support of a skilled and supportive coach. Traditionally the preserve of directors, we firmly believe coaching offers much-needed support at all levels.
An Alemus coach will help the person concerned to think through complex or sensitive issues in a strictly confidential, high trust environment, and to come up with practical actions to move forward. Helping clients to ‘hold the ring’ to progress these actions, and to challenge the person to optimise performance, is critical to successful coaching.
What can I expect from coaching?
The client chooses the topics to work on; it is the job of the coach to design and run the sessions to support and challenge them to achieve their best.
We work with each client to design their coaching package, based on sessions of up to two hours at typical intervals of a month to six weeks. We recommend that these are conducted off-site, and will work with the client to find a convenient and confidential location.
Depending on their preferences, we may incorporate a variety of psychometric tools, observe them in the work setting or conduct 360 degree feedback on their behalf. A three to six month arrangement often works well, but the duration of the coaching will depend on the client’s needs.
Examples of recent coaching:
- Managers leading an evolving service, wishing to develop new medium and long term plans
- Board members of NHS organisations seeking to balance their responsibilities for patient care and staff welfare with the resources available.
- GPs taking on new roles in large practices, or building new partnerships to work at scale
- Clients stepping up to a new board level role
- Young graduates seeking to clarify their future career options.
